Chicks Gone Wild: Checking in With the Cover Stars of Knitted Farm Animals |
|
We at CrafterNews are absolutely thrilled for the long-anticipated release of Sarah Keen’s Knitted Farm Animals, the charming companion to Knitted Wild Animals that takes us out of the jungle and back to the farm.
Earlier this year, we gave you the opportunity to choose which animal from the book would be the star of the cover
The knitters spoke, and the clear winners were the chicken and its chicks!
Well, the chicken and its peeps have been busy since their launch to cover stardom.
We had a chance to catch up with them this month to find out what, exactly, they’ve been up to since their big cover debut, and how their lives have changed. Check out the photos and captions below for an idea of how fame has changed their lives.

After the photo shoot, we were returned to our makeshift coop, although we appreciated being inside because we later realized how cold it was in early spring in New York City! We got to spend time with our feathered siblings, but eventually grew tired of waddling around the same, small space.

Our feathered siblings have always been extremely protective of us. They watched us constantly.

They also liked to take advantage of the fact that their beaks were much sharper than ours, so they picked on us all the time!

So when their heads were turned, we made our move. To freedom in the big city!

We were hungry from our journey from the coop to the city, so we started off with a burger and fries at a chicken-friendly joint in Manhattan.

We then washed our burgers down with some cold beers. Hiccup.

Once we were sated, we hit up a club in the Meatpacking District. With all the women in feathered clothing, we fit right in. Chicks gone wild!

We heard some tourists talking about how delicious the donuts were at Doughnut Plant, so we popped in the next morning for some breakfast. Boy, were they right. They were absolutely delicious, and we were able to save some sugar on our beaks for later. We knew we had a big day ahead of us.

We started off the day on The High Line.

We concluded our trip with a visit to Times Square. Bright lights, big city . . . little chicks!
