I kind of crochet but just enough to be able to finish something I knitted. I want to learn to be better at crochet. I have trouble reading crochet patterns. And I also want to improve my embroidery skills. I love it and find it relaxing but my skills are really rusty. I have also set a goal to finish at least 10 of my knitting UFOs this year and 2 sweaters. I can not buy any yarn until I do!
Definitely sewing!
I learned basic sewing more than 40 years ago but have been away from it for many years. I need a refresher how-to lesson and lots of updated projects and techniques.

This year I want to understand and use crochet patterns. So far my crochet work has been make-some-stiches-and-if-it-looks-okay-repeat-until-something-is-made. This has limited me to pretty much just square or rectangular creations that end up as scarves and arm warmers. Time to branch out and make something more involved from patterns!

2012 is going to be a year to finish projects: the one I’ll need the most help on is a sewing/quilting project–a blanket for my sister. I had a bunch of friends make 9 patch blocks for her when she graduated from college in 2007 (!). Sadly, they’re not all the same size, so I need to add strips to the smaller ones, then piece the whole thing together–then I can pass it off to my mom for the quilting, which she likes to do! I’ve only done hand-piecing before, but I think I’d like to pull out my second-hand sewing machine for this one…we’ll see!
