Five Reasons We Love Crafty eBooks |
|
We know you’ve been eyeing that color eReader or tablet for the holidays. Now that so many different eReaders and tablets are on the market and becoming more affordable (thank you, holiday sales!), we want to share our top reasons for why we love using these devices for our craft eBooks. Whether you are getting a Kindle Fire, Nook, Sony Reader, iPad, or Kobo Reader, remember that many craft books are now available as eBooks!
1. Portability: An entire library fits in your project bag! When we are on the go, we have come to appreciate just how completely awesome it is to have so much handy craft reference at our fingertips. No longer do we need to wait until we get home to look up how to do a Russian Join or make a French knot.
2. Get up close to the photos: Seriously, one of our favorite eBook features is being able to enlarge a photo on our iPad. Not only do the photos often look really great backlit on the screen, but being able to make them bigger lets us get a better look at the details while we are working.
3. Download your charts and templates: No more running to the photocopier to enlarge that stitch chart or template 50 percent. Potter Craft eBooks all have charts and templates that you can download from their website. So if you like marking your place on a stitch chart with a highlighter, or if you need a paper template for your project, going digital still means you can work the way you need to.
4. Links, links, links: No more flipping back and forth in a physical book. Links take you directly to specific technique sections, relevant instructions, or to materials information. And since almost all craft authors give their recommendations on where to buy materials or find more inspiration or ideas, links (and wireless access) can immediately bring you to those sites too!
5. And Now Enhanced: Okay, this only works on tablets right now, and only some eBooks are enhanced, but how-to videos embedded in enhanced craft eBooks are really making us sit up and take notice. No more running to YouTube to figure out a technique—some of these books are now fully loaded.
No matter what your crafting passion is, you’ll find eBooks to download instantly, including some of our favorites such as The Knitter’s Book of Socks, Craft Activism, The BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook, and Print Workshop. Give them as gifts this holiday season for your favorite tech-savvy crafters, or download them for yourself!
