Gnomes vs. Snowmen: The Battle for Mochimochi Land |
|
We’ve often told Anna Hrachovec that we would like to take a vacation in her brain.
We love Mochimochis. We love teeny-tiny mochimochis. And after having the opportunity to see her art installation at Gallery Hanahou in New York City, we love her rather deviant little gnomes and snowmen who are trying to take over the world.
When we heard that Anna was going to create a miniature epic battle scene inspired by the 11th century Bayeux Tapestry depicting the Norman conquest of England, we scratched our heads and said, “What? Really?” Whether or not you’re familiar with the tapestry, the installation of more than 40 knitted panels fitted along the length of Gallery Hanahou’s walls is a crafty triumph, to say the least!
A simple snowball fuels the fight between gnomes and snowmen for control over carrot supplies, herds of cuddly bunnies, candy canes, and robots (don’t even get us started on Santa Claus). Check out the slideshow below!
