Craft & Hobby Show Roundup

We had such a fantastic time at the Craft & Hobby Show in Anaheim in January. The turnout was amazing, we got to see so many friends from the business, and check out lots of new products and companies. It was sad to pack up and go back east, but we already can’t wait for Los Angeles next year.

From day one, CHA was as bustling and exciting as ever. We arrived early on Saturday to set up our booth, and jumped right into the show on Sunday with a demonstration by Alonya Nicklesen, author of Colored Pencil Painting Bible. Day Two brought big crowds to our booth with demos from Judy Belcher, author of Polymer Clay Creative Traditions and Wanda Wen, owner of Soolip and author of The Art of Gift Wrapping.

Both authors attracted large groups of people eager to learn more about Judy’s polymer clay techniques and Wanda’s creative and beautiful gift wrapping methods. Wanda even got to see a finished copy of her book for the first time!

Sherri Haab took over the booth next to show off new electro-etching techniques from her upcoming book Sherri Haab Jewelry Inspirations just as we set out yummy cupcakes with photo printed icing inspired by a project from the book Photojojo! by Amit Gupta.

Tuesday brought more great authors to our booth. Sherri stopped by again and we also hosted Rheni Tauchid, author of New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook and The New Acrylics. She did a make and take with metallic mosaics with transparent acrylic paints on clear mylar, which was so much fun. Rounding out the day was our most well-attended appearance of the show—Donna Kato’s fans loved seeing her work and learned all about millefiori technique.

Overall the show was a great success. We had so much fun hosting our authors, meeting fans and craft store owners from across the country, and checking out the latest trends in crafting (like fondant).

See you next year!
