CrafterNews is headed to Anaheim later in January for the Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show. If you’re in town, be sure to visit us at Booth 3200 for appearances and demonstrations with our fabulous authors and fun extras like Photojojo cupcakes and free projects from Martha Stewart and Wendy Johnson (of WendyKnits.net).
Unless otherwise noted, all authors will be signing copies of their books at the Barnes & Noble booth 3401 immediately following their appearances.
Sunday, January 24th
• 2:00-2:30: Alyona Nickelsen: Alyona will teach the easy but gorgeous craft of colored pencil painting
Monday, January 25th
• 11:00-11:30: Judy Belcher: Brush up on your polymer clay millefiori techniques to make amazing beads and jewelry
• 12:00-12:30: Wanda Wen: Wanda will demonstrate beautiful new ways to wrap gifts using papers and natural materials (No book signing will follow demonstration)
• 2:00-2:30: Sherri Haab: Talk to Sherri Haab about new jewelry techniques such as resin clay and electro-etching
• 4:00-4:30: Donna Kato: Donna will share some of her best polymer clay tips and tricks
Tuesday, January 26th
• 11:00-11:30: Sherri Haab—Talk to Sherri Haab about new jewelry techniques such as resin clay and electro-etching (No book signing will follow demonstration)
• 1:00-1:30: Rheni Tauchid: Learn how to create metallic mosaics with transparent acrylic paints on clear mylar
• 3:00-3:30: Kathy Cano Murillo: “The Crafty Chica” will share some of her best sewing ideas and creations
We’ll also have samples from our authors, project cards, and fun treats inspired by our books, including Photojojo! Cupcakes and project cards from some of our exciting spring titles, including Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts by the Editors of Martha Stewart Living, Toe-Up Socks for Every Body by Wendy Johnson, and The Art of Inspired Gift Wrapping by Wanda Wen.

As the executive editor of Potter Craft, my main focus is acquisitions, which means I look for and work with authors to develop new book projects. When I tell people about what I do they often say, “That sounds fun,” and they’re right. I love connecting and working with artists and designers to realize ideas for books that will inspire and inform our readers. The question that usually comes next—“How do you find new ideas?”—actually has several answers.

We had such a fantastic time at the Craft & Hobby Show in January. The turnout was amazing, we got to see so many friends from the business, and check out lots of new products and companies. It was sad to pack up and go back east, but we already can’t wait for Los Angeles next January. Click through to see our photos from the show and hear all about it.
